Boeing selects Orora for 90nm pipeline ADC behavioral model development. Boeing has selected Orora to develop behavioral models for a pipeline ADC design for Boeing’s radiation hardened IP library in IBM 90nm bulk CMOS. The project involves two phases. Phase I will focus on the use of Arana Top-Down designer to develop models for ADC system architecture exploration and block-level specification. Phase II will utilize Orora’s Arana Bottom-Up Designer to generate silicon-faithful behavioral models for pipeline ADC deign verification. The specific radiation hardening requirements will be addressed using behavioral models.

US Air Force Research Laboratory and Missile Defense Agency award Orora a contract to accelerate the transition of Orora’s analog layout automation research. Custom IC layout is a manual process. Orora has developed a revolutionary technology, called abstract silicon cell™, to automate custom IC layout for complex mixed-signal silicon intellectual properties. This ASC technology has been applied to a customer 90nm PLL and reduced PLL layout turn around time from weeks to days. This new AFRL and MDA contract, with cost matching provided by Boeing, will accelerate the commercialization of the abstract silicon cell technology. The resulting automated custom IC layout product, combined with Orora’ existing products Arana, Arche and Asyn, promises a complete solution for automating mixed-signal IC design, implementation, and verification.

Orora releases Arsyn-ADS support for automating high-speed circuit design and reuse: Orora Design Technologies Inc. has started to ship Arsyn-ADS (Arsyn 5.2.4) to selected customers. The Arsyn 5.2.4 release allows a designer to select parameters in an ADS schematic and then optimize the transistor sizes and circuit topology to meet the design specification for a given process. Agilent, the maker of ADS design software, has provided twenty licenses of ADS to support the Arsyn-ADS integration development and testing.

Boeing uses Orora’s Arana platform and speeds up 90nm SerDes simulation time by 100 to 1200. In DesignCon 2009 held today in Santa Clara Convention center, CA, Boeing designers and Orora technologists have presented a paper on mixed-signal functional verification using Orora’s Arana behavioral modeling platform and Cadence’s Spectre/Ultra simulators. Arana behavioral modeling platform speeds up the simulation of a SerDes driver, a SerDes transmitter, and a SerDes receiver by respectively 6200, 120 and 1200 times while meeting the accuracy requirements.

Orora 90nm PLL silicon IP used in several space electronic applications. In a DARPA/DTRA program review held today, Orora customers have presented their successes in using Orora’s IBM 90nm PLL silicon intellectual properties. Using the Orora tools, the designers have been able to generate PLL designs in days (some times hours) for several applications including clock generation, on-chip measurement, clock and data recovery, and frequency synthesis in both IBM 9SF and 9LP processes. Silicon tests have showed that all these PLLs met the design specifications.
